Business Description

Established in 1930 to protect the lakes and streams of the upper Yahara watershed, Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District provides wastewater collection, conveyance and treatment and resource recovery. We serve about 424,000 people in 24 Madison-area owner communities covering about 187 square miles. The District treats approximately 36 million gallons of wastewater daily at the Nine Springs Wastewater Treatment Plant.

We have a variety of jobs in many areas. STEM jobs include engineers, chemists, and IT. We also have skilled trades, including electricians, maintenance mechanics, and HVAC specialists. We also have opportunities for high school students through the Youth Apprentice program and summer positions in our Facilities Maintenance section.
